Police: Man Chokes Two, Including Child, In Hudson Valley Domestic Dispute

A 32-year-old man spent the night behind bars after allegedly abusing a child during a domestic incident in Dutchess County.

State Police troopers in received a report of a domestic incident at approximately 9 p.m. on Monday night, prompting an investigation. 

That investigation determined that Red Hook resident Christopher Struse allegedly choked his first victim, who was reporting the crime, and a child under the age of 6 years old, during the struggle.

Struse was arrested and charged with two counts of criminal obstruction of breathing, and endangering the welfare of a child, all misdemeanors.

Following arraignment, Struse was remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $1,000 cash bail or $2,500 bond. Struse is due to appear in the Village of Red Hook Court on July 26 to answer the charges.
